The Motion Picture Association of America
he Motion Picture Association is the leading advocate of the film, television, and streaming industry around the world. It is an American trade association representing the five major film studios of the United States, as well as the video streaming service Netflix.
As the Creative Director of the MPAA I was responsible for the redesign of their websites in the U.S. and South America.

MPAA/CARA
Classification and Rating Administration
Established in 1968, the film rating system provides parents with the information needed to determine if a film is appropriate for their children. Ratings are determined by the Classification and Ratings Administration (CARA), via a board comprised of an independent group of parents. They were in need of an updated web site that could serve the needs of both parents and filmmakers who needed to have their films rated. The site was designed to be both fun and functional and played off a theme of nostalgia.
The MPAA MOVIE MALL
In collaboration with HULU, I was asked to design a site for college students to be featured on campus computers assisting students in finding the latest movies online and in theatres. The goal was to deter piracy of films.
MPAA OFFICE REDESIGN
When the MPAA moved to a new building, I was tasked with the redesign of the lobby.
The new lobby had to accommodate the many meetings held between the labor unions and the movie/tv studios. I hired a custom furniture maker to create seating appropriate for private conversations. I tiled the 32 foot walls with leather tiles and had 32 foot iconic images of set production designs installed.

Movie Trailer
The Motion Picture Association wanted a trailer to show at movie theaters to deter people from downloading movies illegally. We held several focus groups to determine the median age and motivation of the target audience. We found that youth between the ages of 12 and 16 the most frequent downloaders and were most deterred by parental involvement.
The video was shot on the Warner Brothers lot and voiceovers were added in post-production.
